About Sue McElligott
Sue McElligott was born in Sacramento, CA in 1964. She began painting in 2006, but has always been around the Arts world, having her poetry first published when she was 8 years old. Using predominantly acrylic paint, she loves to paint in layers for a textured effect. She recently began using oils in a few of her pieces as well. Her influences are varied but she has always admired the works of Picasso, Pollock, Van Gogh and Matisse.
Always interested in painting, Sue simply bought the materials needed one day and began making art. Music is her inspiration and is a must to have on while working in her studio. Choosing the music that motivates her at that moment is essential to what she ends up with on the canvas. Her first public art showing,"Inspired By Music", appeared March 5th through April 1st, 2013 in Nevada City, CA at the Nevada City Box Office located at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center. Her next exhibition will be at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, CA July 8th through July 26th, 2014.
Sue also dabbles in Photography and enjoys those shots that grab her eye. Colors and angles are always on her mind when shooting.
She is donating 10% of her sales here at Fine Art America to the Miners Foundry Cultural Center. To learn more about this historical organization that is part of the Gold Country in Northern California, please visit: www.minersfoundry.org.
